I did have a few non grocery items: Two 4 packs of toilet paper-- I paid .59 each after coupons, and a pack of floss that I paid .07 after coupon. So--$1.25 total of non grocery items, bringing my official total down to $34.58.
I did go over budget by $4.58. My downfall: grapes! I should have weighed the grapes. I just picked up the pack and put them in the cart. sigh. They ended up being $5! If I would have weighed them, I would have put half of the grapes out of the bag so that it would have been more like $2.50. The bag didn't feel as heavy as it apparently was. Oh well-- I was under budget last week, so if you look at it that way, I am just over budget by just .92!! I can try to make up for that next time. :)
Here is our menu for the week:
Breakfasts:
Cereal
Toast with peanut butter
Muffins!
Lunches:
Chicken Salad Sandwiches (no paprika, no green onion, no green pepper, add carrots, apple, and grapes)
Rice and beans dish (we still have 2 slices of bacon left to add to it!)
Leftovers from some dinners!
Dinners:
Tacos---We already had seasoning, meat, shells, and cheese. just needed salsa and lettuce!
Skinny baked mac and cheese with broccoli---add a little chicken
Coconut chicken with sweet chili sauce--- we love this recipe!
Chicken and dressing bake ( yes, we are having this again!)
French toast with scrambled eggs--- yum!
Garlic cheddar chicken-- (again-- we love this one!)
Yes, we are being a little bit repetitive. There is enough variety to keep everyone happy though. We are going out of town on Saturday, so I will have to resume the $30/week challenge when we get back after the new year! So, there's no wiggle room for next time--$30 has to cover it. I'm also going to vary the menu a bit more. I'm going to do my best to stick to it!
