8 Weeks to a Less Cluttered Home: Day 2

If you are just joining me, I am currently completing a challenge where I try to get rid of 10 things per day from different areas of my home.  Click here for background on the project.

Day 2:  . Kitchen cupboards- All cupboards with eating dishes (plates, glasses, china, wine glasses,
etc.) and storage containers (like Tupperware or Pyrex containers).

The one thing I was not looking forward to is getting out all of the food storage containers.  They are located in the cabinet above the fridge-- so inconvenient!  But right now it's the only place for them.  At 5'8" I am reasonably tall, but it is still mildly annoying to try to get anything from that cabinet.   Perhaps I will also reorganize during the project.

Here are the photos:

before: plates and mugs

Before:  wine glasses and glasses

We had way too many wine glasses!

Before:  food storage containers- eeek!

This is what I am getting rid of!

Reflections:

It feels really great to get rid of extra clutter that we really don't need.  lids and containers that had no matches, extra wine glasses, 1 water glass, a chipped and cracked bowl, a napkin holder that we have NEVER used, a random baby bottle, a candy cane that must be a year old at least, and a travel cup with no lid!

I found other people who want the wine glasses, water glass, and napkin holder!  It feels great to know that perfectly good items have found new homes.

I feel very positive about this project and am excited to see all of the results as I continue.
