Living Room Redo

You don't necessarily have to spend money to make your space feel fresh and new again.  Sometimes all you need to do is move around your furniture!  This is exactly what I did the moment the Christmas tree came down.  Here is our living room before:

I actually really liked this furniture arrangement!  We had it like this for over a year though, so I was just ready for a change.  I also wanted to create more space for my son to walk around-- he is so close to learning to walk now!  They grow up so fast.  It's hard to tell from this photo, but the couch is in the center of the space and creates a separation from the dining area.


Here is the space after:

I moved the couch in front of the window and put the arm chair where the bookshelf used to be.  I also reoriented the rug so that it is parallel with the couch.  This arrangement completely opens up the space and it just feels like a different room now!

I am looking for an additional rug or two to add to the space-- perhaps one under the dining table and another closer to the door.  I still have some decluttering to do also, but overall I am happy with the change that we made!
